This course focuses on the organization and structure of a computer. Topics include: data representation; basic arithmetic; execution of instructions; assembly programming; main memory; cache memory; virtual memory; input/output systems.

This course explores the concept and different degrees of “interpretation” in journalistic terms, the logical continuity between information and interpretation, as well as techniques for the development of journalistic messages of an informative–interpretative nature. Students are expected to have completed previous coursework in media theory and journalism.

This course offers a study of the fundamentals of the physics of sound, basics of the processes and tools of music production, use of a Digital Audio Workstation (D.A.W.), and the current software environment in which musical projects are carried out.

This course offers an introduction to statistical learning. Topics include: evaluation of learning methods; unsupervised learning; clustering; dimension reduction; probabilistic learning; statistical classification; regression and prediction.

This course examines the difference between data journalism and precision journalism. Other topics include: open data and open journalism; data and laws of access to public information; the newsroom in data journalism and building the new journalism; gathering data; data representation and visualization of information; future perspectives in data journalism. 

This course provides an intensive study of the craft of directing for film and television, independent filmmaking, and audiovisual creation with an emphasis on scriptwriting, production planning, creative development, and the shooting and editing of short video works. It uses in-class exercises, theory, technical classes, and film screenings and discussions. At the end of the course, students produce a final video project.
