This course will guide students toward an understanding of the intellectual challenges and debates of gender in the discipline of philosophy. It will seek to explore how the assumptions of gender have shaped philosophical discourse, and how feminist thought has destabilised and reconfigured the parameters of debates in epistemology, ethics, and social and political philosophy.

This course examines seminal feature films and documentaries by such filmmakers as Perry Henzell, Humberto Solas, Euzhan Palcy, Felix de Rooy, Raoul Peck, as well as a number of new and young filmmakers, many working in video. The films will reflect the diversity of the region and its diaspora, and will include films in French, Dutch, Spanish, English and Creole. The course will explore representations of race, culture and landscape, migration and nation, as well as the impact of history, economics and politics of the region on the development of Caribbean cinema.

The course provides an elementary introduction to probability and statistics with applications. It covers statistical methods often used by decision makers to present and describe data and how to draw conclusions about populations and make reliable forecasts. In addition, since many statistical calculations are only feasible when one uses computers, students will also learn how to use Microsoft Excel to perform statistical analyses.

This course examines dominant schools of political thought in the 20th century and political theory relevant to assisting interpretation of the politics of development. Modern liberal democratic thought and 20th century Marxist thought; Nazism and Neo-conservatism; Anti-colonial thought and Nationalism; and West Indian political thought will be reviewed and assessed. This course will also provide exposure to critical methodologies used in contemporary political sciences.

This course examines the historical precedence to some of the philosophical issues with reference to ancient Greek Philosophy. Three philosophers will be examined, with major emphasis on Plato and Aristotle. The focus will be mainly on metaphysical and epistemological aspects as discussed by those major classical philosophers.

This course examines digital marketing, digital media tools, and effective digital marketing strategies based on good research. It will therefore define digital marketing and explain its role in the marketing discipline. Additionally, the course will seek to develop
practical skills which are essential to digital marketing and implementing an effective digital marketing strategy.
