This course is a tutorial section for the course CHANGES IN FRENCH SOCIETY. This course focuses on the different aspects of French society in the 20th century and how that society has changed in recent history. Course Description
This course, taught entirely in Spanish, reviews dialect and grammar, including accents, present indicative, past tense (preterite and imperfect), future tense, subjunctive and imperative. This course is designed for students who can already express themselves in and understand the language, yet these topics are reviewed to keep those students on track. There is one final exam, and multiple mini-exams throughout the semester. This course is a TD for “langues et languages”.

Course Description

This pre-semester course examines both the lexicon and the syntax of French grammar, focusing on tenses, logical connectors, complex sentences, and argumentation. French academic writing techniques are explored throughout the course. In lectures and with examples and practice, emphasis is placed on summarizing, organizing, outlining, commentary, textual analysis, and forms of dissertation (compositions and term papers). The course also includes training in note-taking skills, using listening exercises with oral follow-up and written reports, training in the delivery of oral reports, and training in methods of debate.

Course Description
This course focuses on translation methodology. Students translate texts extracted from a variety of sources: literature, news articles, short stories, etc. The course introduction includes exercises to help students master the nuances of translation. A thorough understanding of technical terms of translation is provided. The course combines the translation of English to French and French to English texts. The course covers an advanced emphasis on syntax, idioms, and grammar. It also discusses the particularities between British and American English when translating French colloquial expressions.
