Course Description
This course provides a study of psychological measurement tools and assessments, their development, and the manner in which reliability of an instrument can lead to further theoretical models. It differentiates between categorical and comparative judgment models, application of measurement models, and methods of establishing validity. Other topics covered include: reliability and validity, attitude measures, and the Rasch model.

Course Description
The course provides a critical analysis of the most relevant aspects of the economic, political, and social history of Latin American and the Caribbean, from the colonialism and independence through the present day. The course covers: the importance of geography and natural resources (population and biodiversity); the history of principle pre-Hispanic cultures (cultural context, influence, and fundamental ideas and thoughts leading to a Latin American identity); the principle schools of thought regarding the economic development (colonial enclaves, industrialization, and economic integration); and the characteristics of political development (theology of liberation, the guerilla response to economic, political, and social problems, the peace process and security).

Course Description

This course is an overview of theoretical constructs and practical applications of leadership. Through readings, videos, assignments, and purposeful experiential missions, the course guides students in developing individual approaches to effective leadership. It provides a bridge between the Mexico and Sacramento halves of the program and has the following objectives:

  1. To stimulate meaningful reflection for the participants in the Leadership in Social Justice & Public Policy program
  2. To introduce and examine historical, philosophical, and theoretical perspectives of leadership
  3. To explore practical applications of leadership theories

This course offers a study of the fundamentals of Python3 programming language for scientific computation (computational fluid dynamics). Topics include: basic commands for running python routines in a jupyter environment-- manipulation of files, directories, and processes, parameters of a command in POSIX format, interactive environments, and git; numerical methods for wave field models-- finite differences, finite volume method, and finite element method.
