This course provides a study of the econometric tools used in microeconomics. It examines the analysis and use of qualitative data of independent variables and dependent variables. Topics include: discrete choice models; discrete choice models with three or more alternatives; models with limited dependent variables; sample selection models; models of public policy appraisal; count data models; models with panel data; duration models.

This course analyzes the influences between law, society, and memory with a focus on the legal history of the 20th century. Topics include: imperialism and Africa; the end of classical liberalism and the emergence of new legal subjects and social rights in Europe; law and totalitarianism; the emergence of the international human rights regime; post-colonial legal theory and the global approach to transitional justice.

This course examines International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and provides a comparison of IFRS and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP). Topics include: financial statements; tangible and intangible assets; leases; financial instruments; other specialized International Accounting Standards (IAS) and IFRS; the complete accounting cycle.

This course offers a study of R, one of the leading statistical languages for computing and graphics. Topics include: introduction to computing and graphics; data input and output-- interface with other software packages; exploratory data analysis; probability distributions; apply-type functions; statistical functions in R; data frames in R.

This courses examines the psychological and sociological dimensions that influence consumer behavior. It covers the various theories related to consumer behavior and looks at ways these theories are useful for strategy, brand positioning, and marketing communication decisions. Note: This course is designed for the degree program at ESCI. It has a different unit value from the course offered through ESCI-UPF International Business Study Abroad Program.

This course is an introduction to key considerations of building successful marketing strategies. It discusses the principles of designing and planning marketing research and explores relevant research designs for B2B and B2C sectors. This course covers the peculiarities of data transformation and analysis, as well as new trends in marketing research. Topics include: foundations of applied marketing research in the digital era; planning and designing marketing research; understanding the behavior of the modern consumer; sampling and data collection; observations, focus groups, and surveys; new tools and methods of marketing research and Neuromarketing; data analysis and web metrics; business-to-business and international research.

This course explores the concept of time-- how it is understood by different sciences such as physics and biology, and how it relates to the way in which humans experience the progress of existence. It discusses topics such as the arrow of time, the multiverse, embryonic development, and again as well as views of time from the perspective of the arts, including literature, painting, and music. Finally, this course analyzes how humans measure time, both with artificial devices and through genes.

This course is a study on global markets and the implications of economic globalization on consumers, entrepreneurs, and governments. It examines theory and empirical data to analyze international trade and macroeconomic issues. Topics of study include: globalization and trade, the Ricardian Model, the Hecksher-Ohlin Model, increasing returns and monopolistic competition, offshoring of goods and services, balance of payments, financial globalization, exchange rates and currency markets, monetary and asset approaches to establishing exchange rates, macroeconomic policy in an open economy, and the European Monetary Union.
