This course examines in depth the extensive structural and economic changes which have characterized Sweden since the mid-18th century and the concept of "The Swedish Model". This takes the form of a chronological analysis of the rapid transition from a typical poor agrarian society to an industrial welfare state. The course considers the following questions: Which were the driving forces behind the development? Why did they occur so late? Which were the production factors so favorable to Sweden?

This course includes basic techniques such as finite-state machines, neural networks, genetic algorithms, and methods for application areas such as behavioral modelling, combinatorial optimization, and generation of 3D geometries. The programming language used is C++.

This course gives an outline of the historical development of Swedish society from prehistoric times to the present. Important periods and developments, such as the Middle Ages, the Great Power Period, and the nineteenth century mass emigration are highlighted. Special emphasis is put on the twentieth century, including Sweden's security policy and the emergence of the welfare state. Specifically, Swedish political history is discussed in an international context (Scandinavian, European, American and Global). This course is a module within the SWEDISH CULTURE course.

The course focuses on central literary genres in medieval Irish and Welsh literature which are illustrated by the study of primary texts in English translation and secondary literature.

The course focuses on the long 17th century in Sweden - a period often referred to as the Great Power Era. The course provides an understanding of this period in Swedish history, including the most important structures and the main events and processes.
