COURSE DETAIL
This course is directed towards those who have taken Intermediate Chinese of the NTU Chinese Language Course for International Students or those who have learned Chinese for 250-350 hours (6hrs/week). This course uses the textbook Practical Audio-Visual Chinese II (chapter 7~ chapter 13) to help students develop proficient language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing that would enable them to communicate effectively in their daily lives. Students will further understand Taiwanese language and culture through the course.
COURSE DETAIL
This course is directed towards those who have taken Elementary Low Chinese of the NTU Chinese Language Course for International Students or those who have taken Chinese for 100-200 hours. This course uses the textbook Practical Audio-Visual Chinese I (chapter 7~chapter 12) to help students develop proficient language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing that would enable them to communicate effectively in their daily lives. Students will further understand Taiwanese language and culture as they progress through the course.
COURSE DETAIL
This tutorial course is directed towards those who are enrolled in the Elementary Low Chinese and Elementary High Chinese levels of NTU General Chinese Language Course. This course helps students polish their listening and speaking skills through effective daily conversation. The course focuses on listening and speaking, training students to communicate with basic vocabulary and grammar and making self-introductions.
COURSE DETAIL
This course is directed towards those who have never taken Chinese courses or those who have learned Chinese up to 100 hours (six hours/week). This course uses the textbook Practical Audio-Visual Chinese I (~chapter 6) to help students develop proficient language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing that would enable them to communicate effectively in their daily lives. Students will further understand Taiwanese language and culture as they progress through the course.
COURSE DETAIL
This course is directed towards those who have taken Pre-Advanced Chinese I of the NTU Chinese Language Course for International Students or those who have learned Chinese for 400-450 hours (6hrs/week). This course uses the textbook Practical Audio-Visual Chinese III (chapter 8~ chapter 14) to help students develop proficient language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing that would enable them to communicate effectively in their daily lives. Students will learn commonly-used new vocabularies and grammar that are not often used in daily conversations. Students will be able to use appropriate Chinese language to carry on discussions and further understand Taiwanese language and culture as they progress through the course.
COURSE DETAIL
This tutorial course is directed towards those who are enrolled in the Pre-Advanced Chinese, Advanced Low Chinese and Advanced Mid Chinese course levels of the General Chinese Language Course. It aims to help students learn commonly-used new vocabulary and grammar that are not often used in daily conversations. Students will be able to use appropriate Chinese language to carry on discussions and understand commonly-used writings and articles. By the end of this course, students are expected to be capable of giving an oral presentation and writing a short essay on common societal topics, such as climate, history, culture, politics and economics, sports and entertainments, tourism, etc. Students are expected to be capable of understanding and writing articles, advertisements and leaflets.
COURSE DETAIL
This course is directed towards those who have taken Pre-Advanced Chinese II of the NTU Chinese Language Course for International Students or those who have learned Chinese for 450-500 hours (6hrs/week). This course uses the textbook Practical Audio-Visual Chinese IV (chapter 1~ chapter 7) to help students develop proficient language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing that would enable them to communicate effectively in their daily lives. Students will learn commonly-used new vocabularies and grammar that are not often used in daily conversations. Students will be able to use appropriate Chinese language to carry on discussions and further understand Taiwanese language and culture as they progress through the course.
COURSE DETAIL
This course is for foreign students with no previous knowledge of Chinese. It covers four main areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing which require pinyin-word processing and actual writing of Chinese characters. The pinyin-word processing is emphasized for this course to enable students to break the restrictions of the number of characters they can actually write and allow them to communicate in Chinese soon. The course is at first conducted in English and gradually adds Chinese as students' vocabulary increases. Students master the Pinyin system and frequently used sentence structures and expressions.

This course is intended to give a panoramic view of contemporary China. The topics are restricted to different aspects of the status-quo of China, including people and nationalities, food and cuisines, languages and dialects, festivals and traditions, marriage and family, leisure and entertainment, arts and sports, traffic and transport, travel and world heritage, natural resources and environment protection, mass media and publication, education and research, politics and government, religions and beliefs, information technology and internet, cities and countryside. Each topic is framed into 10 to 15 questions and presented in an easily accessible way with statistic figures, stories, pictures and video clips from different sources in order to ensure objectivity. The aim of the course is to offer a panoramic view of contemporary China in the selected aspects and help understand the variety and diversity of contemporary Chinese society.
