Course Description
This class investigates psychosocial trauma as it pertains to individuals as well as groups. Beginning with the history of psychosocial trauma and its origins as a psychological concept, the class discusses how trauma has been treated in the past and compares it to modern notions of trauma, such as post-traumatic stress disorder. These concepts are then applied to historical instances with a particular emphasis on the effects of the dictatorship in Chile.

This course draws on feminist and interdisciplinary methods in order to place Indigenous and Afro-Mexican women's lives and experiences at the center of study. It examines social and cultural constructs of gender in Mexico and Latin America, systems of privilege and oppression, and the relationships between power and gender.

Course Description
This course discusses the history of metaphysics, from the development of the concept of substance, from the Aristotelian "ousia" to modern subjectivity and its critics, touching also on some of the milestones of Western metaphysics. It offers a panoramic view of the metaphysical tradition and its fundamental concepts, as well as laying the groundwork for analyzing the criticisms proposed by the philosophers of "nothingness" which is examined in subsequent courses.

This course provides a study of the city as a social construction. It also looks at the link between the multiple social relationships that take place in the urban environment and the spatial support that contains them. Topics covered include: the European city throughout history; the concept of city in sociology; the urbanization of the world; urban dynamics and processes; invention in the city/urban policy in Spain.
