This course analyzes the Spanish of the Americas from a socio- linguistic perspective with attention to its historical and descriptive elements. Emphasis is placed on the evolution of the theories of dialectology and linguistics, as well as on the methodologies necessary to research into Spanish American dialects.

This course is a study of the methods of painting and its possibilities as a mode of artistic production and expression. It covers the techniques of the painting process and the basic principles of representation and communication in art. The course includes studio time to complete required painting assignments.

This course examines the the conditions that influence implementation and evaluation of public policies. Principle topics include development of public policy; public interest, ideas, and institutions; evaluation of current public policy; public opinion, facts, and budgets; new technologies in public policy.

This course provides a study of the fundamental concepts of the relationship between life sciences and legal sciences, taking into consideration fundamental rights and new technologies that intersect ethics and the law.

This course provides a historical examination of the region of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the main processes and differing perspectives with which Latin American history has been written. Topics discussed include: the impact of European conquest and colonization on the indigenous populations of the region; elaborates on the legacies of colonialism and independence as they affected the model of the oligarchic liberal state; the transition of the State and the subsequent irruption of the masses on a country by country basis; the context of important events that have affected the region, such as the Cuban revolution, Cold War, economic crisis, and the rise of authoritarianism; present day processes of integration in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as crucial points in the founding of current ideologies revolving around neoliberal globalization, political transition, and emancipatory alternatives.

This course examines the contribution of sociology to the study of health and uses using conceptual and empirical frameworks to study the influence of diverse social factors on the health of individuals. The the course also covers the lines of social research in health, the principal indicators used in determining the health of the population and the influence of social and biological factors on the overall health of the population.

This course offers a study of travels, explorations, and discoveries throughout history and across the world. The course is divided by location including Europe, Asia, America, Oceania, Africa, the poles, seas and oceans, and skies and space.
