This advanced course prepares students to take courses taught in Japanese. Given clear organization and a solid point of argument, students comprehend long conversations, lectures, debates, and spoken media language, students become able to understand long, abstract texts on a familiar field with the use of dictionaries, write clear and lucid sentences with consistency and coherence in compositions and reports, and firmly distinguish and express facts and opinions separate from each other. Students also improve their ability to speak and perform presentations without producing misunderstanding or bringing a sense of discomfort or tension to the audience.

This course covers writing basic compositions on a variety of topics using beginner and intermediate level grammar and vocabulary. The course aims to:
・Write compositions on a wide range of topics using beginner and intermediate level grammar and vocabulary.
・Write in an appropriate style according to the topic and the audience.
・Write one's thoughts logically in Japanese.
・Improve one's ability to monitor compositions using various Japanese composition support tools.

This is a Japanese language course for non-JLP students designed for students learning Japanese for the first time. The aim of the course is to obtain oral communication skills utilizing basic vocabulary and sentence structure as well as enhance basic listening and speaking skills. The course design is based on sentence structures and grammatical patterns learned in the class “Essential Japanese 1M-1 & 1M-2”. It is recommended to take “Essential Japanese 1M-1 & 1M-2” together with this course.

This course teaches students Japanese from higher beginner. Topics: sentences with basic grammar used in daily conversation; vocabulary including noun, verb, adjective, and adverbs. Also, to improve students' listening and oral skill, the course instructor plays and explains popular Japanese songs or short film clips. The second semester of first-year elementary Japanese. Focused on abilities of reading, speaking and listening. This course starts from Lesson 8 and ends with Lesson 16. There is a midterm, a final exam and quizzes once a week. Homework includes translation, compositions and listening exercises.
