The course covers the organization and contents of pedagogical grammar of Korean as a Foreign Language. It also identifies the issues of teaching Korean grammar and helps identify effective teaching methods.

This course explores the ways in which the usage and perception of Korean varies both within and across individuals including factors such as regional origin; age; gender; race, and native status.

This course provides a study of Korean classical literature for cultural contents on the basis of storytelling for movies, exhibitions, and performance arts. It examines how Korean classic literature transforms into media and its methodology.

This course is designed for those who have basic knowledge of Korean. The objective of this course is to give students knowledge of Korean language and to help students acquire communicative competence in Korean. 

This course is designed to give students the basic knowledge on the alphabet, the vocabulary, and the basic grammar of Korean Language. Students will learn how to read and write Korean alphabet. Then, they will engage in a variety of activities in basic speaking, listening, writing, and reading to improve their basic communication skills in Korean.

Korean is a fascinating language with a uniquely logical and easy-to-learn writing system. In addition to learning some basics of spoken and written Korean, students explore a cultural topic in its linguistic context.

This course is teaches Korean vocabulary and grammar. Students engage in speaking, listening, writing, and reading activities to improve their communication skills in Korean. By the end of the course students should be able to read and write Hangul; understand the fundamental system of pronunciation and pronounce initial consonants, medial vowels, and final consonants correctly; understand the fundamental rules of sentence structure and syntax in Korean; and have basic conversations in Korean including greetings, self-introduction, ordering food, making friends, etc.

The course addresses intermediate-level reading and comprehension of Korean language surrounding the following topics: festivals, pop culture, health, leisure, transportation, occupation, and interpersonal relations. 

This course examines central topics on Korean language through cultural perspectives. First, the course provides an introduction to Korean history and culture for the intensive comprehension of Korean. The course then covers main topics and central issues of Korean, such as Han-geul (Korean alphabet), invention, Korean language movement (Han-geul and language purism in Korea), Romanization of Korean, aspects of Korean honorific system, and linguistic ties between Korea, Japan, and China, and finally advertisements and slang in Korean. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of the Korean culture, especially Confucianism which has been related to Korean linguistic phenomena. Knowledge of Korean language is recommended. Assessment: Class attendance and participation (20%), quizzes (20%), midterm essay (30%), final essay (30%).
