Course Description
Taught from a social-ecological perspective of understanding health behaviors, the first half of the course will consider in detail key psychological theories used in understanding physical activity behavior and promoting behavior change (e.g., transtheoretical model) The second half of the course will focus more on the psychological consequences of being physically active, such as the influence on mood and mental health (e.g., depression). The course will include sessions such as: Psychological perspectives of why some people are active and others are not Different theoretical perspectives on understanding physical activity behavior The use of behavior change techniques in changing physical activity behavior Using theory to enhance practice (exercise consultations/motivational interviewing) The relationship between physical activity and mental health

Course Description
This course provides a study on sexuality and human affectivity and considers the correlation of biological, psychological and cultural dimensions in the formation of humans and the relationships they develop. Topics covered include sexuality throughout the life cycle; concepts and characteristics of sex, gender, gender identity, and sexual role in shaping the affective and sexual experience; phases of normal sexual behavior and the main dysfunctions that can occur; current legislation related to sexuality.

Course Description
This course introduces the fundamental scientific knowledge about human thinking and behavior processes, and illustrates the relevance of this knowledge to the betterment of human performance and well-being in a wide variety of settings in the society (e.g., education, business, healthcare). Course Description

Information processing theory deals with how people receive, store, integrate, retrieve, and use information. The present course uses theoretical and empirical perspectives on human cognition, perception, and the experimental methods to study cognition and perception. Eleven basic topics of cognitive science/psychology are discussed using a Problem Based Learning format. The topics studied in the course are amongst others: the history of the study of the human mind as information processing machine, schema’s, scripts, plans, and frames, knowledge representation, top down and bottom up processing, semantic networks and spreading of activation, and intelligence and individual differences. This course assumes prerequisite knowledge from Introduction to Psychology or Artificial Intelligence.

Course Description

This course provides a study of the behavior patterns, attitudes, interests, values, beliefs, conflicts and other cultural aspects of human groups in different social situations. It focuses on the historical context of the development of social psychology and also examines key concepts at both the micro and macro scales of group dynamics: behavior, attitude, role development, and the psychological condition of both an individual and a group. The course also considers the problems and challenges of contemporary social psychology.

Course Description
This course draws on behavioral and neurophysiological perspectives to deepen understanding of current research topics in perception. Emphasis is on how visual information is processed to accomplish functions such as perceiving a single edge, extracting the contours that form a face, or the spatial relations needed to call offside on the sports field. Students gain conceptual skills for evaluating the empirical and theoretical worth of recent research in perception. During the tutorial component of the course, students develop a practical experiment in which they formulate and test a hypothesis.
