Some courses in the Divisions of Humanities and Social Science are taught in Standard Chinese or Cantonese.
HKUST is intended for undergraduates advanced in their respective fields of study. Students should be prepared to take lower-level courses if their academic background does not meet the prerequisites for upper-division courses. Students will be placed in the HKUST Schools of Business and Economics, Engineering, Sciences, Humanities and Social Science, or Interdisciplinary Programs based on their UC major. To be placed into the Business school, students must be a Business/Economics major and have completed at least one year of study at UC by the time they submit their host university application. They also cannot have more than one grade below a “C-” on their transcript.
Due to Hong Kong immigration policy, nationals from Afghanistan, Cuba, Laos, North Korea, Nepal and Vietnam are not allowed to study abroad in Hong Kong.
