About The Program
Acquire well-balanced language skills as you live and study among the temples, shrines and other historic sites in Kyoto, Japan’s former capital city. Courses on Japanese society and culture (anime, manga and ikebana) enrich your understanding of traditional and modern Japan.
Where you'll study
Doshisha University considers internationalism one of the pillars of its mission. The Center for Japanese Language and Culture offers classes at the Imadegawa campus, located downtown near the Kyoto Imperial palace. The university has created a large network of universities abroad and welcomes international students, offering support services and resources. A Global Village lets students consult study coordinators, speak foreign languages outside of Japanese, and see overseas broadcasts and newspapers. Recognizing the quality of the language education, the Japanese government has accredited the center's programs.
TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES
Optional field trips and activities to introduce the local culture are available through your host university. Most events are free or discounted, but some come with an additional cost not included in UCEAP fees.
