Academic culture

NTU is known for it's academic standards and rigor. The NTU educational structure is defined by two interrelated pillars: interdisciplinary learning and experiential and collaborative learning. NTU emphasizes digital literacy in the classrooms and exposes students to a holistic curriculum that incorporates immersive technologies. Faculty have also adopted alternative pedagogical approaches like flipped classrooms, team-based learning, and problem-based learning. Specifically, the learning environment may be quite different than what you're used to at your home UC campus.

Teachers in Singapore are highly respected, and relationships between students and teachers are different from those at UC. Students are expected to be polite, never confrontational or demanding. At the same time, many professors in Singapore have been trained in US and European universities. If you approach professors after class, you’ll likely find them friendly and interested in helping. If you have a difference of opinion or want to make suggestions, speak respectfully with the professor privately, out of class.

NTU has a strict attendance policy. You are required to attend all class lectures, seminars, sessions, and tutorials. Missing class could impact your final grade. You may be barred from taking your final exam if your attendance has been poor during the term, in which case you would receive an F for the course.

Grades

You will earn direct UC credit and grades for all coursework. Grades for this program are typically available two months after the end of the term.
