Field of study: Science, Humanities

Concentrate on a single research topic for six consecutive weeks, gaining valuable experience that will distinguish your graduate school application from the rest. When you return, you'll have experience writing a research report and presenting your findings to a group of like-minded people. List your research project on your résumé, share it with professors at UC, and use it to jump-start your graduate work. You can choose a project in the life sciences, chemistry, or history.

Unique study opportunities

  • Receive research training to help you refine your ideas, design and execute a plan, and present your findings.
  • Learn to design the questions and methods of data collection that comprise an effective research project.

Academic culture

In general, there is more emphasis on writing at the University of Glasgow than at UC. Significant emphasis is placed on literacy, not only in the humanities departments but also in the sciences. Clear, elegant, and simple writing is highly valued.

Successful students on this program are able to study independently and are willing to do the background reading. Close supervision and constructive criticism from the faculty mentors may at first be intimidating and it will help your personal growth.

You will earn direct UC credit and grades for all coursework. Grades for this program are typically available in October.
