Housing

The University of Iceland is on a small campus and housing for students is limited. You'll arrange your own housing and may choose to stay in a dorm or local apartment. The dorm may be on the campus or in a nearby neighborhood. If you choose to stay in an apartment, you'll use an online housing service to arrange your apartment.

Apartment

The university is well situated within the city of Reykjavik for walking to and from campus, but you can also choose to live in a nearby neighborhood. You'll arrange your private or shared apartment with a housing company. You'll be able to see prices, photos, and a map online. Information about the housing service will be provided during the application process.

Commute

Your commute will depend on where your choice of apartment is located. Reykjavik is a very walkable city and, when the weather is too cold, you can also take the bus. If you choose to live in a neighborhood away from campus, you may cycle or take public transportation to class.

Dorm

You may live in a dorm on campus with local and international students, but demand is high and housing on campus cannot be guaranteed. The student housing is lively and entertaining for tenants and their families with a focus on sharing and fellowship. Individual apartments come in different shapes and styles, all emphasizing the effective use of space. Most student housing is on campus but some is located in nearby neighborhoods called Fossvogur, Brautarholt, and Lindargata.
