About The Program
In cozy Dunedin, get a glimpse of life in a typical New Zealand town. The historical coastal city offers a lively nightlife and easy access to beaches, hiking, and extraordinary wildlife such as seals, penguins, and a world-famous colony of Royal Albatross. At the University of Otago you can pursue studies in your major in science, health sciences, humanities, or commerce. Given the university’s research collaborations with the Pacific Islanders of the South Island, it’s also a great program for exploring indigenous arts and Maori studies. With its eclectic history, Dunedin is a unique city among the more touristed locations in the country.
Where you'll study
The University of Otago, New Zealand’s first university, is located in a residential district close to Dunedin’s town center. An impressive Gothic-revival style building standing on campus gives it a classic European feel. Otago enrolls more than 21,000 students in divisions of Commerce, Health Sciences, Humanities, and Sciences. The campus lifestyle at Otago has been consistently ranked well among students, in part due to the University of Otago’s multitude of clubs and societies as well as its friendly community atmosphere. With the ocean and harbor on one side of Dunedin and rugged mountains on the other, you’ll have easy access to water skiing, sea kayaking, and sailing as well as snow sports.
