Course Description

Game theory is a pillar of modern economics. It also plays an ever-increasing role in other social sciences as law and politics, and in natural science as biology. This course is an introduction to game theory, its basic concepts and analytical methods. It examines the ability of using game theory to observe economic behavior and phenomenon in the real world. Course topics include: games with sequential moves; simultaneous-move games with pure strategies; combining sequential and simultaneous moves; simultaneous-move games with mixed strategies; uncertainty and information; strategic moves; The Prisoners' Dilemma; collective-action games; evolutionary games; and bargaining.

Course Description
This is an introduction to Chinese politics for students familiar with the discipline of political science. It aims to deepen participants’ understanding of contemporary China reforms and current events. The main focus of the course is domestic politics. Topics covered in the class include: history and legacies that shape today’s China, the political and legal systems, the functioning of these systems, the ongoing reforms, economic, legal, societal ones. No prior background in the study of China is expected. Class Participation (40% of grade) ? Attendance and class discussion 10% ? Class presentation 15%*2 (Students present on course materials and lead class discussions. Sign up in week 2.) Term Paper (60% of grade) In addition to attendance, presentation and participation in class, you are expected to complete a term paper on topic of your choice (with instructor’s approval) in 3 steps.
