Course Description
This is a compulsory language course and the main goal is training students' communication ability in spoken Chinese. There are about 15 students for each class. There are 3 levels according to the textbooks and the vocabulary. Students learn 3000 new words in this level. After the course, students should be able to express themselves in Chinese at a normal speed. The expression in Chinese should be quite clear, accurate, and appropriate. Students are able to join some discussions on the general topics and have general business negotiation in Chinese. Text: INTERMEDIATE SPOKEN CHINESE II. (Zhongjikouyu 2) Peking University Press. Course Description

This course in cryptography introduces techniques used in secure communication, from historical ciphers to modern symmetric and asymmetric encryption schemes. The course begins with a guide through the necessary mathematical foundation for advanced cryptographic studies. The latest developments in computer cryptography, including the Rijndael algorithm chosen for the new Advanced Encryption Standard, the OAEP padding system for RSA and modern stream ciphers are covered. Key encryption, exchange, and digital signatures are also discussed. The course also looks at attacks on insecure cryptosystems and how to prove that a cryptosystem is secure.

Course Description

This course introduces asset pricing and investment, beginning with asset pricing theory, empirical problems and the latest theory developed to solve these problems. Specifically, the course explores mean-variance analysis, expected earnings, beta models, and factor structures, such as classic CAPM, APT and the recently developed fama-French five-factor model and q-theoretical four-factor model. The course also covers the stock and derivatives markets, as well as personal and institutional investment. It involves many computational problems. The computing language R will be used. MatLab, and other programs such as Python, C, SAS or STATA can also be used.
