Course Description

This course explores poets and poetry of Latin America with a focus on vanguard poets and lesser-known poets of the 20th century. Topics include: vanguard poets; poetry and militancy; poetry and neurodivergence; women as poetic and political speakers in contemporary Latin American poetry; poetry of dissent; poetry, race, migration, and trans-territoriality.

Course Description
This course the student provides a study of the theoretical and methodological foundations of medical anthropology, as well as its main objects of study. It examines health-disease processes as a socio-cultural and technical construction with a Latinx perspective, contrasts the vision of health-disease processes of "western" cultures with Indigenous and Afro-descendant cultures, and identifies the perspectives of SEA processes within the framework of globalization and modernity.

Course Description
This course provides an introduction to sociolinguistic methods for the systematic study of language variation, with an emphasis on variation in the Spanish-speaking world. Topics covered include: criteria for defining language varieties; axes of language variation; the linguistic variable and methods to obtain linguistic data; sociophonetic, morphological, and morphosyntactic variation; linguistic, stylistic, and social factors that affect variation; variation at each level in the Spanish-speaking world; variation and pragmatics; pronoun formality and social meaning; the advance of "tuteo" in Mexico.

This course prepares students for a certification in Lean Six Sigma. Topics focus on analytical techniques for the improvement of manufacturing performance along the dimensions of productivity, quality, customer service, process capacity, cost and throughput. It also covers techniques for yield analysis, process control, equipment efficiency analysis, cycle time reduction, on-time delivery improvement and pareto analysis. Students may receive a Lean Six Sigma - Yellow Belt certification accredited by the International Association for Six Sigma Certification if they pass the qualifying exam.
