Course Description
This is a course about moral and political philosophy as put forth by Burke and Kant, specifically on the rights, whether natural or not, of humans. It also looks at the way in which these two perspectives have been intended to constitute a widely distinct theory of the "real" rights of the man on philosophical, moral, political, and anthropological presuppositions. More broadly, this course is a reflection on the links between philosophy and politics that people attach to themselves. In discussion, the course looks at the critique of the "real" rights of man as put forth by several philosophers, including Jeremy Bentham and his critique on the existence of inherent rights.

Course Description
This course reviews the great periods of Italian cinema against the backdrop of the history of Italy from the late nineteenth century to the present day. From the mute peplums to the Comédie à l'Italien, from the white telephones of the fascist period to the neo-Renaissance of the postwar period, from the economic boom to the years of lead, from the clean hands operation to today, the course analyzes more than a century of cinema history through works of fiction or documentaries. The major producers, directors, writers and actors in Italy are discussed. Works from three great directors are studied in more depth: Luchino Visconti, Federico Fellini, and Pier Paolo Pasolini. The course is given in Italian. Most of the film clips are presented in the original Italian version subtitled in French; some are in the original Italian version subtitled in Italian.

Course Description
This course involves both a literary and political imagination and a political reflection: from the genus and controversial myth of the kidnapping of Europe to the idea of a "difficult Europe". Among the events that have marked European history and redesigned the continent is the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. This course is based on a body of literature and film post-1989, to study some of its current representations of the world.
