This course is divided into two parts. In part one, it provides an overview of Latin American history from pre-Columbian America to today. In part two, it discusses the politics of the region including construction of the state, globalization, international markets, political institutions, and elections.

This course explores the microeconomics of banking theory to understand the operation, regulation, and challenges of the banking sector. Topics include: financial intermediation; demand deposit contract; banking crises; bank regulation; credit risk analysis; interest rate risk; liquidity risk.

This course discusses the problems and challenges inherent in the analytical framework of studying social movements and transnational actors (TNAs). It examines contemporary struggles covering diverse social mobilizations based in different parts of the world. This course explores differences and commonalities in selected fields of social justic struggles.

This course offers a study of the theory of automata and formal languages. Topics include: automata theory; finite automata; languages and formal grammars; regular languages; pushdown automata; Turing machine; compilers.

This course discusses the theory of market design, its most advanced tools, and their current applications. Topics include: auction theory and matching theory; study of real markets from an allocative and strategic perspective; application of market design tools to the redesign of specific markets.

This course covers the basics of radio language and the several expressive and narrative possibilities provided by this medium. It focuses on the most commonly used radio genres: news, reports, interviews, vox pops, and features. At the end of the semester, students produce a 20 minute radio program.  

This course offers a study of the physics and psycho-acoustics of music. Topics include: the physics of sound; generation of sound-- instruments; rhythm; pitch and intervals; musical scales; chord progressions; audio illusions and effects; room acoustics; neuromusicology.

This course provides an introduction to databases. Topics include: information systems, modeling methodologies, and management of semi-structured and complex data; relational database including design of a database and query languages; NoSQL databases.

This course explores the historical evolution of the aerospace industry and technologies, highlighting the development of various elements of aircraft and the impact on human life.

This course offers a study of Spanish history from the late fifteenth to the late eighteenth century including political processes, social relations, and cultural productions of modernity.
