This course focuses on the values and ideologies that underpin social policy and public policy in New Zealand. Students examine the economic, political, and institutional arrangements within New Zealand which impact upon policy development and implementation.
COURSE DETAIL
This course provides a study of the techniques used to prepare, integrate, manage, and visualize complex data using modern software environments. It introduces the fundamental concepts of data science through practical use of the industry-standard software environment R. It covers how to program in R, how to effectively manage and manipulate data in R, and the "round trip" of data science (import, tidy, transform, visualize, model, and communicate).

Intellectual property and patent law in the pharmaceutical industry. An overview of the legal and regulatory framework for drug design and development. Clinical trials: formulation of a drug; phase I, phase II and phase III protocols. An introduction to the principles involved in the Codes of Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Laboratory Practice (quality control and quality assurance procedures) as applied to the manufacture of drug products and the quantification of drugs and metabolites in biological fluids. Examples of drug development. Case studies of selected drugs from design to release.

This course provides an introduction to Maori knowledges and metaphysics through a study of topics such as voyaging, art and aesthetics, warfare, conflict and peace. It also looks at how approaches to Maori knowledges and their impacts are critiqued.
