Course Description

This course introduces basic spoken and written Korean, oral practice for various everyday situations, grammatical structures, and vocabulary and practical expressions. Students do not need any prior knowledge of Korean. At the end of the course students are able to conduct conversation on topics such as everyday greetings, asking and giving information, and number expressions. Texts: SOGAND KOREAN 1A, Korean Language Education Center. Assessment: attendance (5%), assignments (45%), oral exam (10%), and a final exam (40%).

Course Description
The course explores the history and basic theory of documentary film. General concepts, aesthetics, ethics and different forms of documentary are introduced. The aim is to develop a critical understanding and appreciation of documentary through lecture, screening, practical workshop and experience of creating a film. It also explores how to discover and represent the cultural phenomenon in daily life by using visual method. Students are expected to finish their short documentary films at the end of the semester.

Course Description
As the first in a series of six language courses, this course invites students without prior knowledge of Spanish to explore the basic features of the Spanish language. Supported by audiovisual aids, students receive intensive practice in spoken and written Spanish through interactive class work, homework and online exercises. This course examines the theories of industrial organization. The course begins with a survey of the industry commodity classifications. It then examines various theories of the firm, including the distinction between the different types of firms. This course is designed to develop the ability to analyze and critically evaluate arguments from a logical point of view. It provides a basic understanding of such concepts as reasons, implication, validity, and fallacies. Course Description
This is a project-based course that offers a hands-on learning experience of the subject topics of robotics, perception and AI with applications in human-robot interaction. Students are required to first put together a workable mobile robotic manipulation platform using the provided mobile base and robotic arm, customized with perception sensing devices. Subsequently students use the mobile robotic manipulation system and the sensing devices to achieve perception and AI empowered real-world human-robot interaction with prescribed task objectives and scopes. Students work in small groups to study the hardware and learn the required ROS (Robot Operating System) software platform, understand the task requirements, work out feasible solutions, and accomplish the course project objectives. During the process, students acquire basic knowledge and practical skills of robotics, perception and AI.

Course Description
This course explores the artistic achievements of early China using artifacts recovered from archaeological excavations. The course introduces painted and black pottery and the ritual and ornamental jades from the Neolithic period; oracle bone script, ritual bronze vessels, bronze weapons and musical instruments, painted lacquers, and ritual and ornamental jades of the Bronze Age; and the beginnings of contact with nomadic cultures and pictorial representation in bronze, silk, and clay. Students emerge with a multifaceted picture of the cultural and artistic legacy of early China, ready for in-depth studies in the arts of the period.
