Course Description
Using an approach over several disciplines, such as meta-geography, geopolitics, geohistory, cartography (ancient and contemporary) and the epistemology of geography (including the history of the discipline), this class looks at the divisions of the world. This class addresses topics such as: the measure of time and space while considering region, scale, and temporality; the geohistorical dispersion of the human genus on Earth and corresponding representation (Brandt, Hungington, Saïd); limits and conventions of continents; invented continents (Lemutian, Atlantis); rotundity and stature of the earth, looking at projections and the prime meridian, epistemic changes, quantifications and visualization; the "cosmographic revolution", definition, delimitation and cartography of the sea; the modern mapping device; and the invention of the Far East and the Middle East.

Course Description

This course for international students offers a panorama of French contemporary literature from a feminist and LGBTQ+ perspective. Through excerpts of novels, short stories, and contemporary essays, it provides an opportunity to discover contemporary female authors as well as a variety of feminist discourse in fiction. The course studies works by major female authors from the second half of the 20th century, including Sarraute, Duras, Yourcenar, Wittig, Cixous, Ernaud, Ndiaye, and Blais; as well as contemporary female authors such as Virginie Despentes, Wendy Delorme, Céline Minard, Léonora Miano, Chloé Delaume, Catherine Dufour, and Emmanuelle Bayamack-Tam. It develops written comprehension as well as oral and written expression skills.

The oral production part of the course uses interaction in class on subjects relating to daily life and the surrounding environment. The reception part of the course focuses on the distinction of sounds and the recognition and link between writing and pronunciation. This course on climatology and hydrology covers the basic concepts of meteorology which govern the day to day weather. Physical factors governing the weather such as winds, humidity, latitudinal and longitudinal location, time of year, and others are examined. Weather is analyzed on a macro-scale as well local-scale.
