This class expands on the sociological and social psychology studies of emotion and thought at an international level. It discusses linguistic expression, differences in forms of communication, ethic compromising, critical thinking, and general analysis of the principal concepts of society.

This course examines contemporary Spanish reality and the different cultural forms and manifestations within Spain. Site visits to various places in Madrid provide an immersive experience and academic and social context. This course also reinforces Spanish language learning through oral and written communication skills.

This course discusses the dynamics of cities and urban planning and the basic regulatory and instrumental framework for urban space planning. 

This course explores the theory and history of cinema, from a historical perspective, with different considerations: historical, aesthetic, linguistic, industrial, technological, and sociological.

This course examines the parts of speech and meanings presented in literature and mass media. Weekly topics include: the factors and functions of semiotics, poetry and rhetoric; verbal versification; meaning, reference, context, situation, and theme; verbal and visual morphology; types of speech and strategy; narration and the effects of narration; manipulations in media, meaning, and speech; figures of speech.

This course provides a critical analysis of the criteria used to distinguish between normal and abnormal behavior and apply psychopathological diagnosis. Topics covered include: history of clinical psychology and psychopathology; general models of abnormal behavior; evaluation, classification and diagnosis of abnormal behavior; disorders of perception, awareness and attention; memory disorders; disorders of thought and language; psychomotor disorders; food and sleep disorders. 

This course offers a study of the main sociocultural processes that make up human life such as socialization and social control. It analyzes social inequalities-- class, gender, ethnicity-- and social change. Topics include: primary dimensions of social stratification, inequality, and social exclusion-- gender, ethnicity, social class; primary structures, institutions, and social practices-- family and kinship, education, religion, etc.; social change and globalization.
