This course examines the history of European cultures, with a special focus on Spain, from pre-history to the present day. Topics include: the Renaissance; Reformation; Enlightenment; Industrial Revolution; Russian revolution and formation of the USSR; WWI; WWII; Spanish republics; dictatorship; Cold War; de-colonization; democracy; the European Union.

This course provides an introduction to data analysis in the social sciences through the multiple linear regression model. Emphasis is placed on the interpretation of the model and the application of statistical inference techniques to solve case studies. The course discusses how to make inferences under non-standard situations caused by the nature of the variables in the model or by the nature of data. Previous study of probability, statistics, algebra and calculus is recommended.

This course offers a study of the sociology of education including the educational system, family and school, knowledge society, and education and employment.

This law course provides a study of the origins, evolution, and legal organization of the European Union. It examines the law of the European Union, law adopted by the institutions, and the integration of the European laws with the Spanish legal system. It looks at reciprocal state laws of EU nation-states, EU laws of application and control, and the objectives of the EU integration process.

This course provides a historical analysis of the Europeanization movement within the context of the creation and consolidation of the idea of Europe, the projects that led to the integration of people and countries, and the materialization of Europe with the development of the legal and economic institutions that constitute the present model of the European Union. It discusses issues that arose during the integration process, the solutions implemented, the goals attained, and the challenges that still exist.  

This course offers an overview of Iberian Art from its beginnings to the present day. It explores architecture, painting, and sculpture from various styles and eras including: Islamic, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Golden Age, and Baroque. 

This course provides a historical analysis of legal concepts within the framework of various political models. It examines the evolution of the legal system, its institutions, and legal-political doctrine. Topics covered include: the culture of European Common Law; the Enlightenment and law; the Liberal Revolution and the rule of law; legal monism (legalism) and codification in Europe; constitutionalism and constitution; American constitutionalism; the emergence of administrative law; new branches of the legal system; authoritarianism and the constitutional state; the birth of labor law; decodification and the deregulation of law.

This course is designed for UCEAP students at the intermediate (B1) level to improve, consolidate, and expand their grammatical knowledge of the Spanish language. Class meetings are supplemented with practical experiences where students visit emblematic locations in Madrid to practice Spanish communication in real-time.

This course offers an introduction to electronic instrumentation, metrological characteristics, and measurement errors. Other topics include: signal conditioning for electronic sensors-- circuits, amplifiers, and modulation techniques; electronic sensors for the measurement of different physical magnitudes, their characteristics and conditioning circuits; applications of a/d conversion, d/a conversion and data acquisition in instrumentation systems.

This course offers an introduction to robotics. Topics include: perception in robotics; actuation in robotics; navigation; processing elements; decision-making in robotics; human-robot interaction; novel applications.
