This course provides training in reading modern Japanese literature works, thereby increasing knowledge of Japanese literature and reading comprehension skills. The course discusses an overview of Japanese literature by genre, following the history of Japanese literature. 

This course examines how changes in early 20th century American domestic politics shaped the way American colonialism was imposed and practiced in the Philippines. The objective is to explore this topic from a comparative perspective (comparing the American and British empires) and looking at colonial state formation from the lens of the Gilded and Progressive Eras. The course also focuses on two powerful institutions – the police and the law. Finally, the course looks out the relationship between the Americans and Filipino elites and the larger society in terms of the former’s quest to gain the support of Filipinos.

This course introduces the theoretical concepts in corporate finance and their practical applications. Topics covered include capital structure, payout policy, corporate governance, corporate bonds, financial derivatives, and leasing.

This course discusses politics, society, and culture through the history of the United States, focusing on the socially vulnerable in US. history. The course aims to see the United States from a broader perspective as well as multiple angles.

This global business course focuses on the organizational behavior perspective in a global context. The course covers individual-level inputs, outputs and processes (IOPs) such as demographic diversity; personality and values; attitudes and behaviors; emotions and moods; perception and individual decision making; motivations, as well as group-level and organizational level IOPs in the global context.

This course provides an overview of Japan's history from the late Middle Ages to the present day. It aims to deepen one's understanding of the process by which the current Japanese society was established and understand historical events seen in current Japanese society.

In addition, students learn expressions in Japanese language  that have historical background.

This course provides a broad overview of the many topics in psychology: evolutionary, developmental, personality, cognitive, and social psychology. By the end of this course, students are expected to: (1) Understand psychological concepts, theories, and research methods and (2) Understand the relationship between psychological findings and everyday life.

This course discusses the oldest work in Western Literature, the Iliad, focusing on its historical and cultural background. It then examines the themes and the poetic techniques of early Greek heroic epics. 

This course introduces game theory and its application to political science. Students study game theory through the concepts of Nash Equilibrium, Subgame Perfect Equilibrium, and Perfect Bayesian Equilibrium, as well as strategic-form, extensive-form, and repeated games. Sessions involve presenting (and practicing) game-theoretic techniques before applying them to specific political science questions.

Although there is no prerequisite knowledge for this class, it may be helpful to have taken at least a course in statistics or probability theory.

The course is designed to expand kanji and vocabulary at low intermediate level and increase vocabulary written in kanji.
