This course introduces analytical tools and recent topics in industrial organization related to the digital economy.
It provides students with theoretical tools for equilibrium analysis of oligopolistic competition, both useful for research in both empirical and theoretical industrial organization. These tools include discrete choice models, basic contract theory, and some theories of particular games such as aggregative games and supermodular games. Additionally, it provides students with theoretical frameworks to analyze recent market phenomena in the digital economy such as platform’s business strategies and competition in online markets.

This course introduces undergraduate students to the empirical aspects of international trade. It analyzes the causes and consequences of international trade both in developed and developing countries, with a special emphasis on the role of firms. After an introduction on key stylized facts of international trade, the course studies the published-work in international trade: trade from the point of view of individual firms. The course discusses various topics such as trade policy, trade liberalization, inequality and Global Supply Chains.
Recommended prerequisites: 2nd year basic microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics. Basic understanding of applied-microeconomics is desirable (not essential).

This course closely examines the historical, social and cultural backgrounds of several works of German-language literature from Prague and studies how these are expressed in literature.
Upon completion, students acquire basic knowledge about the society and culture of the German-speaking area of Prague and reconsider various issues that can be gleaned from literary works of that time as issues that still apply to the present day.

This is a seminar course focusing on developing future leaders of domestic and international business. Through seminar-style dialogue with alumni association members, the course is designed for students to deepen their practical understanding of the work and the industry while helping students form their own career views. By interacting with alumni association members, students also have better understanding of Japanese business culture, ethic, and challenges that Japanese companies are facing. The class is divided into a group of 10-15 people depending on topics discussed.

This course aims to understand issues in global health and to utilize econometric methodologies to improve health policies in one's own countries. The first half of this course discusses global health/health systems reforms in the Asia-Pacific Region while the second half introduces impact evaluation by presenting a detailed analysis of quantitative research underlying recent program evaluations and case studies. This course works extensively with Stata.
Students are required to have basic knowledge on statistics and econometrics.

This class focuses on reading literature written in Spanish about the current situation of indigenous peoples in Central and South America, as well as viewing video materials, remote real-time interviews with people in the relevant communities, and presentations by the participants. The course aims to deepen students' comprehensive understanding of Spanish and the indigenous peoples of Central and South America, and provide clues for research into the region.

This course provides training to acquire skills necessary for writing academic reports and papers. In class, each student chooses a theme, writes a report, and conducts peer review of these reports.

This course introduces common statistical analysis methods used in psychology and sociology research and teaches students when and how to apply these methods to address their research questions. Students learn how to select the appropriate statistical analysis methods based on their research questions, perform them using R, and present the results in APA style.
