This course introduces various elements of starting an entrepreneurial journey, including team building, crowd sourcing, and use of social media. Based on an experiential learning model, industry representatives provide in class discussion while students also have opportunities to gain authentic experiences in different industries and reaching out to network of co-working spaces. This course does not require previous entrepreneurial experience or any form of business training.

This course provides familiarity with poverty issues including poverty measurement, underlying causes of poverty, the impact of poverty on society and government programs and policies that address poverty. The course illustrates principles with real-world applications. Though the course discusses poverty in a broad context of developing and developed countries, an extra emphasis is put on poverty related issues in Hong Kong and mainland China.

Course Description
This is a project-based, experiential course that introduces the design thinking process focusing on health innovation to address the real-world unmet needs in society. The goal is to develop communication, interpersonal, teamwork, analytical, design and project management skills through a multi-disciplinary, team-based design experience. The design thinking process modules: empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test, are introduced and the students learn experientially by applying these process modules to solve the health unmet needs they observe in real life. The students are required to report their progress throughout the semester. At the end of the course, they showcase their prototype in a roadshow and submit their project report and reflection on their design journey.
