Course Description
This course is a topic of science and technology innovation policy. The course provides understanding of the frontiers, cutting-edge methods, and issues related to science and technology innovation policy, the development and latest developments of this research field, and technological innovation for public management. The new challenges brought about by the policy strengthen the grasp of the future direction of public governance and public policy, and can put forward research issues in combination with China's scientific and technological innovation and public policy practices. This course requires students to have a basic knowledge of public policy theory and a strong interest in science, technology, innovation activities and governance issues.

Course Description
This course outlines China's relationship with other developing countries, with particular emphasis on mutually beneficial cooperation in emerging countries in social and economic development, including finance, trade, infrastructure, agriculture, industry and economic cooperation zones. Through the first-hand information and extensive literature readings from field studies around the world, the process of South-South cooperation in developing countries is fully displayed. At the same time, the history and theory of international development is used to analyze the opportunities and challenges of cooperation among emerging countries. Class discussion and practical research explore how development cooperation can achieve a win-win situation. In addition, the discussion puts the issue of international development in the context of capitalist modernization and globalization, and combines the analysis of the nature of capital with Marx, Adam Smith, Ricardo, Polanyi and other thinkers to explain the current political and economic phenomena. Classics are closely integrated with practical activities.

Course Description
This course provides primarily international students with an overview of current China, including Chinese history, geography, politics, and culture. The course promotes interest in various areas not covered in the lectures. The class is lecture based, and the grading rubric includes student presentations as well as a final examination at the end of the semester. Text: Zhongguo Gaikuang (Overview of China). Assessment: Class participation/attendance (10%), presentations (20%), written report (30%), final exam (40%).

Course Description
Game theory is a pillar of modern economics. It also plays an ever-increasing role in other social sciences as law and politics, and in natural science as biology. This course is an introduction to game theory, its basic concepts and analytical methods. It examines the ability of using game theory to observe economic behavior and phenomenon in the real world. Course topics include: games with sequential moves; simultaneous-move games with pure strategies; combining sequential and simultaneous moves; simultaneous-move games with mixed strategies; uncertainty and information; strategic moves; The Prisoners' Dilemma; collective-action games; evolutionary games; and bargaining.

Course Description
This is an introduction to Chinese politics for students familiar with the discipline of political science. It aims to deepen participants’ understanding of contemporary China reforms and current events. The main focus of the course is domestic politics. Topics covered in the class include: history and legacies that shape today’s China, the political and legal systems, the functioning of these systems, the ongoing reforms, economic, legal, societal ones. No prior background in the study of China is expected. Class Participation (40% of grade) ? Attendance and class discussion 10% ? Class presentation 15%*2 (Students present on course materials and lead class discussions. Sign up in week 2.) Term Paper (60% of grade) In addition to attendance, presentation and participation in class, you are expected to complete a term paper on topic of your choice (with instructor’s approval) in 3 steps. Instructions for written assignments will be distributed in class. ? Research Question 10% (due in Week 3) ? Research Proposal 10% (due in week 6) ?
