This thematic course is designed for complete beginners at Pre-A1 level. It covers grammar and vocabulary in French through games and fun activities that are designed to be progressive.

This course examines the risks to which information systems are exposed and explores preventive measures and corrective actions to address them. Based on the principle that security is everyone’s responsibility, the course takes a managerial rather than a technical approach, as risks to information system security are not limited to the technological risks of IT platforms or networks. They encompass risks related to the company’s organizational structure, work methods, legal and regulatory constraints, personnel, partners, and so on. The course provides the necessary knowledge of methods and tools to actively contribute to various aspects of information system security. Real-world business cases supplement and concretely illustrate the concepts studied. Mastering the terminology specific to information system security is a key objective of the course.

This course is intended for students who have never taken a French course before. It introduces the French language and familiarize students with the basic skills required for level A1.1. Using a variety of materials, students practice different skills, such as oral and written comprehension and production, as well as interaction. Particular emphasis is placed on oral practice in order to promote the development of communication strategies.

This course is intended for students who have achieved level B1. It develops the language and methodological skills required for level B2, enabling students to express an opinion on a current topic and explain its advantages and disadvantages in a clear and detailed manner. These expression skills are developed using primary source materials (newspaper articles, literary texts, audio or video recordings, films, images, comic strips, etc.) related to a social issue. These documents are used in oral exchanges to express reasons for or against a given opinion in the form of a debate or discussion. This personal point of view is then defended in writing in a structured, clear, and coherent argumentative text such as an essay, an official letter, a discussion forum, or an article.

This course deepen understanding of cooperation, forms of governance, and political institutions in the contemporary international system and its evolution, using the various analytical tools provided by theories of international relations. It explores the diversity of international actors and the complex nature of their interactions within an international system profoundly transformed by the end of the Cold War, shifts in power, and new rivalries among states. In particular, drawing on the study of the various settings, types, and levels of international cooperation, the course identifies the challenges currently facing the classical model of the international system based on state sovereignty and formal multilateralism. At the same time, it examines the extent to which this shift toward multi-actor (public and private) and multi-site international cooperation (toward what are called “complex regimes”) is impacted by the intensification of inter-state tensions.

This course is designed for students who have already completed one semester of French. It provides the language and communication skills required for the A1 level. The course introduce various aspects of Geneva and Switzerland while providing opportunities to practice French. Topics include the history, geography, and political structure of Geneva and Switzerland, as well as their traditions and other cultural aspects, presented through various written and video materials.

This course examines the legal structure of the federal state in Switzerland, covering topics such as the structure of the Confederation, the powers of the cantons, federalism, and political rights.

This intermediate level German course practices listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking, and writing skills in the context of current topics and various media. It develops skills to understand the main points when clear standard language is used and when dealing with familiar matters from work, school, leisure, etc; cope with most situations encountered while traveling in the language area; express oneself in a simple and coherent manner on familiar topics and areas of personal interest; and report on experiences and events, describe dreams, hopes, and goals, and give brief reasons or explanations for plans and opinions.
