The course covers the basics of corporate finance from a big picture and value enhancing perspective. The course has three main objectives: (1) Develop an understanding of the tools that are used to value investment projects and companies (valuation); (2) Understand the basic issues involved in how firms should raise funds for their investments (financing); (3) Evaluate how investment and financing decisions are related. Emphasis is placed on applying the theoretical framework of corporate finance to real world problems. Prerequisites: Understanding of basic economic and statistical concepts, familiarity with time value of money, financial statements analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, risk-return trade-off, and diversification.

The course analyzes global organizational structures and international strategies, highlighting corporate challenges in the face of the complexity of the global economy. It focuses on the means to achieve a competitive advantage, sustain it over time, and the ability to replicate it to target markets during the internationalization process. In addition to corporate strategies, the course discusses cross-cultural negotiation and soft skill strategies.

It also discusses popular culture and its influence on these areas as well as a cohesive idea of collective or generation imaginaries. This course discusses industries, competitors, regions, and markets from the perspective of practicing managers and the reasons behind global differences. Finally, it offers an overview of the different areas of international business and their contributions to the foundation of global business and management.

This course examines Indigenous Māori cultural framework as a lens to better understand contemporary organizational issues, such as bicultural governance, structure, ethical leadership and organizational behaviors.
