Course Description
This course provides a multidisciplinary study of the relationship between film and fiction and their reflection of modern culture. It explores various themes relating to societal development and the role of artists, writers, and poets in the development process. The course is divided into three sections: understanding contemporary culture (modern literature and identity crisis, film and cultural identity); modernity as a culture of violence and disintegration (traditional culture versus a culture of change, crisis of modern rationality); postmodernism and cultural complexity (complex subjectivity and new realism, uncertainty and equilibrium).

This course builds on the first-year sculpture course, and presents basic knowledge for future training and development through fundamental techniques in sculpture. The course is designed as an open workshop that follows the guidelines set out at the beginning of each year. It presents skills in metal work and other construction materials, such as wood carving and stone sculpture. Topics include; conceptual analysis and self expression; three-dimensional space; synthesis of natural shapes; legislation related to health and safety as applied to sculpture; sensitivity to environmental concerns and recycling.
