This course provides a multidisciplinary study of the relationship between film and fiction and their reflection of modern culture. It explores various themes relating to societal development and the role of artists, writers, and poets in the development process. The course is divided into three sections: understanding contemporary culture (modern literature and identity crisis, film and cultural identity); modernity as a culture of violence and disintegration (traditional culture versus a culture of change, crisis of modern rationality); postmodernism and cultural complexity (complex subjectivity and new realism, uncertainty and equilibrium).

The course provides a critical analysis of feminism as a field of study and political occupation in connection with the development of theories and studies in the social sciences. The class focuses on the discussions and arguments of historical and present themes that the feminist movement has confronted as well as the political and contemporary proposals of Latin American feminists.

This course provides a study of the processes of creation, design, production and promotion of a brand and an advertising campaign, emphasizing the importance of communicating, motivating, and persuading users through the image in order to produce a comprehensive communication project that captures the attention of the public and generate a behavioral change.

This course provides a study of the elements and principles that govern ecological sciences, including interactions, theories, hypotheses, and paradigms of the subject. This course includes discussion of the differences between ecology and environmentalism, the field of ecology in Chile, environmental issues such as development and sustainability, and the environmental influences of human beings from an evolutionary perspective.

This class explores the field of education though the lens of cognitive neuroscience. The class uses topics within education and investigates their current and potential applications. It also examines misuses and misinterpretations of neuroscience as it pertains to education.

This course provides an introduction to the most important topics of labor economics: demand and supply of work, returns to education, wage inequality, discrimination and the role of labor market institutions. It covers the necessary tools used to analyze labor market issues with a critical economic focus. The course also allows the application of microeconometric techniques that are essential for understanding and interpreting the most important aspects of the relevant literature.

This course builds on the first-year sculpture course, and presents basic knowledge for future training and development through fundamental techniques in sculpture. The course is designed as an open workshop that follows the guidelines set out at the beginning of each year. It presents skills in metal work and other construction materials, such as wood carving and stone sculpture. Topics include; conceptual analysis and self expression; three-dimensional space; synthesis of natural shapes; legislation related to health and safety as applied to sculpture; sensitivity to environmental concerns and recycling.

This course examines detective and crime fiction, from the works of Edgar Allen Poe and the inception of the genre and development of sub-genres. It looks at noir novels and film, explores themes such as the "femme fatale" or the detective's sidekick, and finally dives into contemporary Latin American and Chilean takes on the genre.

This course examines the Spanish legal system and procedural and litigation law. Topics discussed include: methods of solving legal conflicts; jurisdiction and jurisdiction exclusivity; the model of the judiciary, institutions of government, their composition and powers; the Spanish judicial organization and the distribution of competences between courts; the status and functions of prosecutors, lawyers, and employees of the justice administration; due process and legal protections; the constitutional guarantees and statute of judges and magistrates; the costs and expenses of the judicial process. NOTE: This course is the same as LEGST 102E, but taught in Spanish.

The seminar considers the historic place of feminism in Latin America alongside modern Latin American masculinity and alternative manifestations of patriarchy. It provides a history and critical historiography of feminisms and masculinities studies and questions the universal neutral and sexless subject. The course also looks at processes of gender relations, "depatriarchalization", soft patriarchies, and the intersection of patriarchies.
