Course Description

The course focuses on the performance of structural systems in relation to seismic forces. It encompasses basic concepts of seismology, seismic threat, and characterization of earthquakes and analyzes the seismic response of structures on elastic and inelastic performance. This course presents the scopes and limitations of the seismic design codes as well as the foundations for performance-based seismic analysis and design.

Course Description

The course discusses the problems, methods, and results of sociolinguistics, in particular the social aspects that influence linguistic change. It explores the incidence of social and cultural factors in the acquisition and use of language, as well as on the sociolinguistic status of Indigenous languages and the linguistic planning of the different Latin American countries.
