This course provides an anthropological study of politics and politics, examining the fundamentals and theoretical developments of the discipline, from the study of "primitive societies" to interest in groups, sectors and phenomena of our society. Topics covered include: evolution of institutions, structures and hierarchies in societies; gender perspective in political anthropology; speech, ritual behaviors, symbols, beliefs and political values; political conflicts and violence.

This course provides a study of the characteristics of multilateral institutions within the framework in which states and non-state actors negotiate global governance initiatives. It examines the running themes of the conflict between North and South, the capacity of international organizations to promote cooperation between states, the impact of non-state actors (such as companies, transnational networks of experts, civil society) on global governance, and the role of emerging powers (including China, India, Brazil, among others) in multilateral institutions.

This course discusses the various social science explanations for the terrorism phenomenon. It explores the origins of terrorism and the first examples of its use. This course then looks at the five major historical/political scenarios for which terrorist violence has been used in modern times-- populist-anarchist, nationalist totalitarian, third world national liberation, the new left, and fundamentalist.

This class examines the political and social structure of agrarian life in Mexico and the effect of political reforms and policies on the Mexican countryside and rural economy over the last century. Topics and themes covered may vary by term and instructor.

This course provides a study of the principles of management and planning of tourist spaces and activities according to the principles of sustainability and looks at the methodological instruments available for the implementation of policies towards sustainable development and specifically those related to sustainable tourism. Topics covered include: environmental and social effects of tourism; load capacity and sustainable tourism; strategies and instruments towards sustainable development.

This course covers materials, technique, resources, and strategies in etching and engraving. It discusses safety, hygiene, and best practices; general concepts of imprinting; methods for hollow engraving; etching with direct and indirect techniques.

This course discusses social change, conflict theory, theory of revolutions, and the way different social, cultural, economic, and political processes influence Latin American revolutions. The Mexican Revolution, Cuban Revolution, and Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela are compared and contrasted in order examine the sociopolitical processes that occur within the context of an interconnected, rapidly modernizing world. The specific conditions of pre-revolutionary periods, the revolution itself, and the political evolution of the post-revolutionary phases are analyzed for each case.
