This course provides an introductory study of psychological processes that provide a foundation for various subfields in psychology. It examines topics such as: the debate between innate versus acquired, the phylogeny and ontogeny of psychological processes; processes of perception, attention, imagination, memory, thought, motivation, autoregulation, empathy; abnormal functions in psychological processes including attention deficit, amnesia, and intellectual disabilities.

Course Description
This course provides the essential keys for understanding urban phenomena, including relevant spatial elements in the city and methodologies for understanding of the distinguishing features of cities. It examines the essential features of urban spaces, both from an evolutionary point of view, and in relation to their present configuration. The course also looks at some of the main challenges related to urban spaces, including spatial planning, socio-economic tensions, migration, and urban environment. Madrid's urban reality and its metropolitan area in particular, is examined as a case study.

Course Description

Students are placed in local community and non-governmental organizations to observe first-hand the diverse causes of disease including social, economic and environmental aspects. Regular hours in service to these organizations are supplemented by weekly lectures from medical doctors and other professionals involved in the ongoing work of Child Family Health International (CFHI).

Course Description
This course reflects on human-plant relationships and interactions across various societies through space and time. Special emphasis is placed on the understanding and use of plants and their landscape by different cultural groups. The class covers techniques and methods for reconstructing this kind of knowledge ethnographically, archaeologically and paleoecologically. This course studies the principle elements of probability theory. Topics covered include: introduction to probability theory, randomized experiments; probability spaces, conditional probability and independence of events; dimensional random variables (distribution function, discrete and continuous variables, transformations, moments, characteristic function and moment generating function, notable distributions); multidimensional random variables (marginal and conditional distributions, independence, transformations, moments, characteristic function, correlation coefficient, notable distributions); Stochastic convergence (convergence of random variables, relationships and properties, laws of large numbers, central limit theorems).
