Students are placed in local community and non-governmental organizations to observe first-hand the diverse causes of disease including social, economic and environmental aspects. Regular hours in service to these organizations are supplemented by weekly lectures from medical doctors and other professionals involved in the ongoing work of Child Family Health International (CFHI).
COURSE DETAIL
The course covers the study of semantics, focusing on the meaning of words and expressions in Spanish from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives. Students explore lexical meaning, ambiguity, semantic relationships, cognitive semantics, and mechanisms of semantic change, while developing vocabulary, sentence construction, and critical reflection on the Spanish language.
