Housing

You have the option to choose a dorm or apartment in Berlin. To secure a dorm, you’ll apply through the university. To find a local apartment, UCEAP on-site staff will serve as a resource as you approach the private rental market, search ads, and go on interviews.

Apartment

Staying in a shared apartment is the best way to meet German students and immerse in the student culture of Berlin. Most of the work of finding an apartment in Berlin, like interviewing with housemates, is done after you arrive. However, you’ll receive plenty of information and online sites to research ahead of time.

Commute

Commute averages 45 minutes with a combination of walking and public transportation (metro or bus). Berliners typically commute 45 or 60 minutes to navigate the city. You’ll feel like a local in no time with your public transportation pass that allows you to use the buses and rapid transit railway system (S-Bahn and U-Bahn). You can also commute by bike; Berlin is a bike-friendly city.

Dorm

The dorms on this program are student residences located throughout the city. Each is close to public transportation and balances privacy with the advantage of getting to know students from around the world. The typical living space is much like a studio apartment with a kitchenette or shared kitchen on each floor. All buildings are within walking distance of markets, cafés, and bakeries. The architecture and features like gym, music room, lounge, garden, and so on will vary.
