Housing

The housing for this program is in apartments along Mount Maunganui's stunning harbor-side beach, within walking distance of Pilot Bay. The mountain’s Māori name, Mauao (“caught by the dawn”), comes from local traditions, and it is an important symbol for the tribes of Tauranga Moana. The sandbar layout of the coastal suburb at the base of the mount gives it two distinct beaches: the sheltered harbor side (Pilot Bay) and the open-ocean surf beach, both only a few blocks apart. The main beach is famous for its white sand and warm surf and has been ranked among New Zealand's best beaches.

Apartment

You'll share a spacious apartment with one other student on the same program. Each apartment has a table and chairs, a flat-screen television, a small refrigerator, a tea kettle, heater, kitchen, shower, and more. Each apartment has crockery, cutlery, and linen. Enjoy the comfort of an apartment on the ocean while you focus on your marine science studies.
