Internships

You have the opportunity to choose an internship placement based on your academic and professional goals. You'll work closely with internship coordinators to define the opportunity that will best suit your future career. An online seminar will help you adjust to working virtually and provide guidance on fitting into your workplace throughout the experience. You may work with an organization in these cities: Seville, Prague, Rome, Florence, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Sydney, Buenos Aires, or San Jose in Costa Rica.

Key Facts

  • The academic seminar and internship are 100% virtual, everything is done online.
  • Internships on this program are required.

Language

You can intern in English.

Academics

You’ll take a course to guide your internship experience. To meet the course requirements, you may be required to participate in meetings, discussions, journaling, and a final project.

Arrangements

It's important to know that your internship will be secured two weeks before the start of the program. This means that your internship placement will be made very close to the time you depart the US.

Once you have applied with UCEAP and been nominated by your campus study abroad office, you'll complete a Career Development Assessment form for CEA. When placing you in an internship, close attention will be given to the career focus and interests you list on the form. You'll also indicate and rank your location choices and thoroughly discuss these during your first interview with your CEA career coach. Review the CEA personalized placement process for more information.

You'll engage in career exploration and coaching sessions to help you identify your ideal professional pathway. During this time, you'll receive between seven and ten hours of professional career coaching through video, email, and workshops. The CEA team will coordinate with organizations that are a good fit, and you'll participate in interviews with potential internship hosts.
