Course Description
This course provides a well-rounded coverage of the field of animal behavior from physiological, ecological and evolutionary perspectives. The course expects the critical evaluation of concepts and information introduced in lectures and the textbook, and to critically read primary scientific literature. Contact sessions provide training in how to carry out independent research in this field. Students carry out a semester-long independent project in small groups of 4 students. Groups plan their projects and write a formal research proposal (group assignment), then carry out the projects, analyze their data, and each student then produces a poster on the project, to be presented in poster sessions at the end of the semester (individual assignment). This contributes to half of the assessment in this course.

Course Description
This course offers a series of practice-led lab sessions that investigate ways of evaluating, describing, and illustrating the various elements of a visual image such as shape and form, space, line, values, and texture. Students learn to apply, test, and question these techniques through the development of a conceptually driven project. In addition to studio-based activities, students participate in peer-evaluation and undertake theoretical research.

Course Description

This course examines a systematic analysis of the theory of international trade and trade policy. Initially differences between countries are emphasized as the source of trade and the gains from trade. Models that are examined include the Classical-Ricardian model, the Heckscher-Ohlin model and the Specific-Factors model. Next economics of scale and imperfect competition are introduced as sources of trade and gains from trade. The course concludes with an examination of empirical studies aimed at testing trade theories. The analysis of trade policy begins with a discussion of the instruments of trade policy, in particular, tariffs and quotas and their effect on welfare. This discussion is then extended to the case of imperfect competition and strategic trade policy.
