Course Description
This course focuses on French political and social life, with an emphasis on the following subjects: French society and way of life; French population, demographics, and evolution; family as an institution including – marriage and other types of unions, children, family, taxes, and patrimony transmission; Education; and French social policy; France and francophone world. In addition students are required to complete a 10-page report and an oral presentation on a topic they select in French.

Course Description
In this course students learn how to identify minerals and rocks. The course also covers hydrology and terrestrial resources. Students learn the main rocks of the earth's crust and gain the ability to observe geological objects in order to identify them correctly. Through this course students learn how to recognize, characterize, and analyze in autonomy geological structures and formations (petrology, paleontology, structural geology, geophysics). Students observe and identify geological objects and understand their genesis.

Course Description
This is an intermediate level French language course. Third semester French- B1.1. This course is for students who have completed through the A2 level of French. At the end of this semester-long course, students are expected to: understand the essentials when plain and standard language is used and if they are familiar topics about work, school, hobbies, etc.; understand the essence of many radio or television programs on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest if one speaks in a relatively slow and distinct way; understand texts written mainly in a current or work-related language; understand the description of events, the expression of feelings and wishes in personal letters; deal with the majority of situations that may be encountered during a trip to a country where the language is spoken; take part unprepared for a conversation about familiar or self-interested topics related to daily life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events); articulate expressions in a simple way to tell stories and events, dreams, hopes, or goals; briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions or projects; tell a story or the plot of a book or a movie and express reactions; write a simple and coherent text on topics familiar or of personal interest; write personal letters to describe experiences and impressions. Students are required to take both the Fre nch lecture and the French workshop.

Course Description
This course dedicated to the individual is an opportunity to understand a part of the history of the discipline and to hone in on some great authors. It focuses on the evolution of the concept of the individual and the place he occupies in sociological theory. Through the perspective of sociologists on the individual, the course also looks at contemporary societies that shape themselves by letting emerging concerns over men and women's capabilities to extract forms of political, symbolic, or commercial domination.

Course Description
The course is a study of medieval France from the fifth to the thirteenth century, from Clovis to Philippe Auguste reign. This course covers medieval courtly hierarchy and struggles for power between the various medieval regions of France. This course also covers religious aspects of medieval France including struggles between church and state. Political and institutional changes are also studied as well as cultural, social, and economics evolutions.

Course Description
This course covers European painting in the nineteenth century. The course starts at the beginning of the century and covers the second time of neoclassicism. Course Description

This course presents, from a comparative perspective, the Basque language: a European language that does not belong to the Indo-European family, in its typology, the history of the language, etc. The linguistic system is compared to the neighboring Romance languages ​​(Catalan, Castilian, French, Occitan) and Latin. The course focuses on the descriptive linguistics of Basque which address the history and sociological aspects of the language, as well as its phonological system, dialect variation and standard, declension and the case system, syntax, ergativity, verbal system, allocutivity, etc. It addresses historical landmarks, synchrony and diachrony, the phonological system and diachronic variants, morphology, the question of number, marking and meaning, inflectional language, agreement (noun phrase and verb), morphosyntax of the noun, the role of word order and postpositions, the verbal system, and lexicon.
