Course Description
This course introduces the philosophical thought of both the sages in traditional African cultures and contemporary academic African philosophers. It sets out by exploring the question of philosophical thinking in traditional African cultures and proceeds to examine issues such as the supposed distinction between philosophy and 'ethnophilosophy', examines such concepts and questions that have engaged the attention of African philosophers as: the existence, place and role of God; the relationship between the individual and society; views of morality and their foundations; knowledge, truth, and the relevance of traditional philosophical thinking for life in contemporary Africa.

Course Description
Planning, designing, construction and maintenance of aquaculture facilities such as ponds, pens, tanks, cages and raceways are important for the success and profitability of an aquaculture enterprise. Through the various topics that will be treated in this course, students will be equipped with knowledge on aquaculture facilities construction, installation and maintenance and environmental considerations, which are key to the success of the industry. Visits to various aquaculture facilities will be made by students to interact with entrepreneurs to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses of their facilities and how to curb identified challenges. Students will be introduced to the Global status and importance of aquaculture, design, construction and maintenance of aquaculture facilities e.g. ponds, tanks, cages. Design, construction, operation, and management of a fish farm (BMPs for Tilapia and African catfish culture), environmental considerations in aquaculture developments, Aquaculture as a business.

The course will introduce the student to major theories of the exchange rate and balance of payments and discuss evidence on the empirical tests of these theories. This will be followed by a discussion of the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policies under fixed and flexible exchange rate regimes. The international monetary system will be the next major topic that will be addressed. This will be followed by a discussion of optimum currency areas with application to ECOWAS.
