This class discusses the concepts behind film theory while also gleaning some of the important moments in the history of cinema. It explores the origins of cinema and how it evolved from an optical illusion to a narrative form of storytelling, reviews classical film theory, and finally applies those theories to film excerpts viewed in class.

Course Description

The course offers a study of the theoretical bases and principles that guide sustainable production, recognizing the role of societies, nature, and their territories, and the virtuous relationship established between them. It includes practical experience by maintaining an established orchard through activities such as: sowing, pruning, maintaining an irrigation system, among other activities. Community work in the urban garden fosters discussion of solutions for facing urban demands for quality food while taking into account the conservation and restoration of natural resources such as water, soil, flora, and fauna biodiversity.

It examines writing styles of different authors and delves into diction, detail, and themes presented in their works. This course provides an analysis and contextualization of periods, movements, authors and representative works of Chilean, Latin American, and Spanish literature from the end of modernism to the 1960s. It identifies the main themes and aesthetics of this extensive period, placing specific focus on narrative and poetry, the relationships between the two and with their respective cultural, social and political fields.

Course Description
This course provides a critical analysis of the works of prominent Andean poets significant to the cultural history of Latin America: Pedro Prado, Pablo Neruda, Pablo De Rokha, Gonzalo Rojas, Stella Díaz-Varín, César Vallejo, Vicente Huidobro, Gabriela Mistral, Blanca Varela, Soledad Fariña, Juan Eduardo Eielson, Jaime Sáenz. It examines the symbolism, content, and structure of their works, and examines the personal and historical contexts in which they were written. It also compares and contrasts the authors, paying special attention to the poets' identities with regards to gender, class, and ethnicity.

Course Description
This course provides a study of cooperatives and social enterprises as democratic companies centered around satisfying the needs of their associates and of the communities in which they operate. It examines concepts and topics such as labor unions, credit associations, consumer associations, foundations, fair trade, nonprofit organizations, and other civil society organizations. The course compares and contrasts the diverse types of companies and enterprises present at a national level, distinguishes the key dimensions for the development of a cooperative or social enterprise, and identifies the real and potential contributions of cooperatives and social enterprises.

Course Description
This course provides a study of the fundamentals of the origins of human biological variability based on the relationships established between cultures, their biology, and their environment. It provides elements for understanding the biological phenomena related to human evolution and its development in the Primate order, considering the plurality of its conditions. Other topics covered include: paleoanthropology, the fossil record and early cultural evidence; microevolution of human populations, specifically in the Americas and the Southern Cone.
