This course offers an introduction to astrophysics, stars, planets, and galaxies and cosmology. It discusses basic techniques of astronomical observation, observational parameters, and the different scales and structures of the universe. This course examines the main physical properties of stars, galaxies, the interstellar medium, star clusters, and galaxies. It considers the foundations of the standard cosmological model and the observational evidence that supports it.

Pre-requisites: Knowledge of General Physics

This course discusses the historical, ecological, geographical, evolutionary, and anthropogenic context for plant biodiversity in the Mediterranean Basin. It examines the richness of plant species in the different regions and environments of the Iberian Peninsula. This course also explores plant taxa, useful tools for differentiating botanical groups, as well as preparation of flora inventories, vegetation inventories, biogeographical analyses, technical reports, etc.  

This course offers a study of English-language literature and culture from the second half of the nineteenth century with a focus on marginal and non-canonical work including poetry, fiction, drama, and visual culture. It is divided into four modules: Avant-garde movements of Victorian modernity such as Pre-Raphaelitism, Aestheticism, and Decadence; popular fiction with a focus on genre literature including adventure, detective, horror, and children's narratives; cultural particularities of the fin de siecle, examining the shift in cultural paradigms towards twentieth-century modernity; critical reception of Victorian culture in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, including Neo-Victorianism and other contemporary versions of Victoriana. This course explores significant aesthetic, cultural, and ideological aspects of each module.

Pre-requisite: Nineteenth-Century English Fiction 

This course offers an overview of the main philosophical trends that emerged in the 20th century. It discusses the structure, chronology, evolution, key ideas, and interrelationships of current philosophical trends. Topics include: pragmatism; phenomenology, existentialism, and hermeneutics; critical theory and post-Marxist dialects; post-structuralism, deconstruction, and neo-Nietzschean thought.

This course explores animal diversity through specialized training in the methodologies required to identify different zoological groups. Students learn how to recognize the most representative species of fauna and create fauna inventories, measure and interpret animal variability and differentiate zoological groups, as well as how to prepare research studies and fauna inventories and catalogs aimed at characterizing animal communities, biogeographical studies, strategic environmental assessments, environmental impact assessments, and the delimitation of protected areas. 

Pre-requisites: It is recommended to have taken and passed Zoology 

This course discusses musical games and songs for application in early childhood education. Topics include: song and play as educational intervention tools; the role of play in child development; song and musical play as unifying elements across different areas of early childhood education curriculum; auditory discrimination and perception, rhythm, vocal, instrumental, and movement skills; songs and their typology; children's musical folklore-- lullabies, party songs, games of change, skipping rope, ring games, etc.; educational songs; techniques and resources for teaching and learning songs.

This course examines main concepts and methods used in environmental land-use planning. It discusses the relationship between abiotic, biotic, and anthropogenic elements of the environment, the supply and demand relationship, and its impact on essential resources such as air, water, and soil. This course analyzes planning and management of environmental resources, prevention of territorial imbalances, and maintenance of a population's quality of life.

Pre-requisites: Students must have completed and passed Natural Foundations of the Territory and Social Foundations of the Territory 

This phonetics course is divided into two main parts: voice analysis and voice synthesis. In the first part, it offers an introduction to the acoustic analysis of sound signals using computer software. It analyzes the segmental and suprasegmental properties of speech sounds, the relationships linking the acoustic component to the articulatory and perceptual components, and examines the complex relationships between the phonic continuum and the perception of meaning. The second section examines the various models and procedures applied to voice synthesis for both theoretical and practical purposes.

This course offers a study of commercial law and the legal structure of business organizations including the different types of legal entities, how companies are formed, how they operate, and how they are managed. It discusses partnerships, stock companies, and shareholders' rights, as well as analyzing corporate bodies, financial statements, and major corporate changes such as mergers, spin-offs, and liquidations.
