This course examines bilingualism and bilingual people including the acquisition and learning of two languages, personality and intelligence, and variables of cognitive development. It also discusses bilingual education programs for linguistic minorities and majorities as well as multiculturalism.

The course explores human perception and attention, focusing on visual and auditory processing, the perception of space, movement, time, and social cues, and the integration of sensory information. Students study psychophysical methods, attention mechanisms, musical and speech perception, and multi-sensory integration, combining experimental, cognitive, and social perspectives to understand how humans perceive and interact with the world.

Topics include: America-- the fourth part; population and society; models of political organization; colonial spaces; colonial economy; work and slavery; resistance to the colonial world; religiosity and identities.
