Through lectures and problem solving, students learn combinatorics, generating functions, recurrence relations, difference equations, and rings and fields with application to coding theory.

The aim of the course is to give the necessary knowledge of digital image analysis for further research within the area and to be able to use digital image analysis within other research areas such as computer graphics, image coding, video coding, and industrial image processing problems. The course also prepares students for further studies in computer vision, multispectral image analysis, and statistical image analysis.

The course reviews the most important principles and technologies in cellular and molecular neurobiology with a focus on understanding the methods used to increase our knowledge and be able to relate this to current research in the subject area. The course starts with an introduction to important methods for studies on molecular and cellular neurobiology, as well as basic practical exercises. The course also includes detailed studies of the mechanisms that underlie neuronal signaling and cell function, and how these are activated during development and neuronal plasticity. A central part of the course is the application of technologies that push the research forward, including optogenetic manipulation and gene editing to manipulate neural circuits and identify neural functions.

This course provides a foundation in Swedish. It prepares students to engage in general conversations, daily life situations, the discussion of current events, and the presentation of rules governing academic studies and life in Sweden. It also teaches language structure and basic grammatical rules. In addition to language learning, students engage in a variety of cultural activities such as field trips/excursions to points of interest in Sweden.
