Course Description
In this course, students learn how to write a report to influence a parliamentary select committee. UK Parliamentary staff teaches part of the course to provide knowledge of parliament, and students use previously written reports as guiding examples. Students also attend a trip to Parliament where they meet with MPs and parliamentary staff and learn about a career in politics.

Course Description
This course explores the principles of neurotransmission, synaptic physiology, and plasticity. Students survey findings in psychopharmacology on the neurochemical basis of psychological disorders, pharmacological approaches to treatment, and mechanisms of action for recreational drugs, and drugs of abuse. This course also touches on findings in behavioral endocrinology on relationships between hormones and behavior.

Course Description
This course is based on the idea that important cultural meaning is created through visual media. Students learn practical techniques of visual analysis and are encouraged to apply them in ways that consider relevant sociological and media debates and theories around visuality in contemporary culture. Students examine race, gender, class, dis/ability, and age through close analysis of images found in social media, television, print media, film, and music video. The course also introduces students to visual research methodologies. This course is particularly useful for students wishing to undertake dissertation projects that interrogate or work with visual media.

Course Description
This course provides an overview of the study of international relations (IR). The first part of the course examines the main theoretical approaches that aim to explain the behavior of state and non-state actors in the international system such as realism, liberalism, Marxism and the "English School," including modern approaches such as feminism, and neo-colonialism incorporating religion-based perspectives. The second part of the course builds on the main IR theories to explore the determinants and dynamics of civil wars, insurgencies, terrorist tactics civil resistance campaigns allied to populism and nationalism. Students focus on the role non-state actors play in shaping these phenomena.
