About The Program
An intriguing experience with Mexico’s people and politics awaits in Mexico City, a mosaic of modern and historic culture. This five-week summer program mixes class time with a flurry of activities and trips. Walk up the ancient steps of an Aztec pyramid and glide through the canals of Xochimilco. In classes with 10 to 15 UC students, get an intercultural perspective of Mexican history and culture while learning Spanish. A homestay in Coyoacán reinforces your bilingual skills. During downtime, discover the ancestral traditions and natural wonders of barrios mágicos. Or, stop by an ultra-niche museum for insights on anything from chocolate to Frida Kahlo.
Where you'll study
Located between Coyoacán and San Ángel, UC Center Mexico City is housed in La Casa de California. La Casa de California is a University of California facility founded to enhance the cultural ties between California and Mexico. Near several premier institutions of learning and research, this UC Center is a miniature campus with offices, lounge areas, and classrooms. A beautiful building from the turn of the 20th century and elegantly landscaped grounds make the complex a comfortable, relaxed place for students and scholars to interact and take part in cultural events.
